Magic Realism Recent Painting and 3D Mixed Media Assemblage of Armando Adrian-Lopez,
artist, visionary, and dreamer.
Armando Adrian-Lopez is an award winning Mexican artist living and painting in Abiquiu, NM
The term magic realism was used initially as a literary term that was meant to describe the writings of authors, such as, Gabriel Garcia Marquez. The large body of painting and 3D mixed media assemblage produced by Armando Adrian-Lopez combines the representational with the symbolic to form images that are readily understood and that focus on the magic present in everyday life. The visual meanings inherent in his work are multi-layered, narrative, and dream-like.
A Tarascan/Purepecha Mexican native, Armando is a nationally recognized artist and painter. He draws his visual imagery from his life experiences, from both his childhood & as an adult. The bold palette and soft edges create the dream-like visual environment of his paintings and mixed media assemblages. They invite the viewer to feel and interpret deeper meanings. He focuses most of his attention on Oil Painting and 3D Mixed-Media Assemblage. Additionally, Armando uses his storytelling and theatrical skills to create performance art. Armando firmly believes in Art as Medicine for both artist and viewer.
Armando Adrian-Lopez’s work is in the collections of The Museum of Latin American Art (MOLAA) in Long Beach, California, The National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in many private collections worldwide.
